So far, so good! Noah is HOME! :)

Noahs surgery went really well, his surgery was on April 11th and lasted about 2.5 hours, with another hour or so in recovery before we could see him. He spent 3 nights at Childrens and each day was better and better. I think the second day was his worst but who can blame him, he was in pain and really looped up on random meds. By the night of the 13th he was playing, smiling and happy again, it's amazing how quickly they bounce back.

The surgery has a 98% success rate so we feel really positive about that! We returned home this afternoon and within five minutes Noah and Cass were fussing over wanting the same toy, some things never change. ;) It's so good to be home! Noah has what is called a KISS-cath, a catheter that comes directly from his left kidney and out his side, he will have this for 2 weeks and it will give his kidney time to heal, so for now the cath drains urine from his left kidney and his right kidney empties into his diaper like normal, the little Koala back pack he has is from the hospital, it holds his drainage bag and most of the tubing so that he can crawl around, he doesn't seem to mind it a bit, when he is sleeping, eating, etc.., we will hang the bag from the bed or highchair to give it time to drain properly. A home care nurse will come to the house to check on him Tuesday and in 2 weeks we will see the Urologist for a quick trip back to the operating room to have the cath removed and to check his incision. After that he will have Ultrasounds every 3 mos. to make sure everything is in good working order, if so, after a year he will be released from the Urologists care.

We feel really positive about everything and are glad the rough part is behind us. We also appreciate all the good thoughts and prayers from our family and friends!

XOXO
